Viva Las Vegas!

New Page 1

WHOO! HOO!! And we are going to Vegas! I just got off the phone with Tarik and we are going to be spending our wedding anniversary weekend in Law Vegas, staying at the posh and beautiful Venetian Hotel on The Strip. And since we are not big gamblers, we will be squandering our money on some shows like "O", which is sexy Cirque du Soleil and like the uber geeks that we are, The Star Trek Experience. I would also like to see Blue Man Group if we get a chance. Ahh Blue Man Group. I remember them when they were just an off Broadway performance art troope.

I have never been to Vegas so I am really looking forward to it with much gusto, except for that flying thing.  I gotta get OVER that.

I've heard that there is good celebrity watching at Caesar's after 3:00 am.  If only I could stay awake that late.

OK, here is something completely off topic, well sort of.  My father was an airline pilot and in his 30 years of commercial aviation, he had one accident.  I happened to find a report about it online last night:

 http://aviation-safety.net/database/1980/800317-0.htm

Now, this is not something to necessarily be proud of, but its interesting.  No one was seriously hurt and in the opinion of many, it could have been much worse than it was.  Oh, and I did mention it once in a previous entry.  In any event, we always knew he was not totally at fault for this and it was a terrible blow to him to be demoted for 6 months from captain to co-pilot.  In the 35 or so years that Texas International was in operation, there were only 11 fatalities, all from a flight in 1973 that crashed into the side of a mountain.  Obviously not my dad.

And to segue on from that...  There is an interesting story about the day my parents got me (I'm adopted).  They had applied to adopt, and finally they got the call one day.   Well, my dad was supposed to go flying that day with three of his friends but had to call and cancel when they received the call from the adoption agency.  Later, my parents found out that the plane had crashed and all 3 of my dad's friends had been killed.  Its a very humbling thing to know that in a roundabout way, I saved my father's life.  I haven't been able to determine for certain from looking at the NTSB's online database which flight it was because I don't actually know the date that my parents got me (that sounds so weird to say).  But I think its this one:  http://www.ntsb.gov/ntsb/brief.asp?ev_id=9190&key=0

Charlie Brown is going swimmingly and we have our third performance tonight.  But, before that we are having auditions at my house this afternoon for the latest film project of my friend Stephen Dornbos.  We did a small film a few years ago that was a parody of  "Interveiw with the Vampire,"  the premise being, "What if Lestat Chose, Wrong?"  Its called "Interview With the Scottish Vampire" and is a marriage of "Interview with the Vampire" meets "Braveheart" meets "Pygmalion."  Go figure.  www.scottishvampire.com

Thus ends another missive.  I must get this place cleaned up for this afternoon and what not.
