Random Noggin' Tidbits

New Page 1

Oh the random tidbits rattlin' 'round my noggin' today are legion.  Where to start:

Operation Hubby Reintegration is coming along swimmingly.  In fact, its almost like he was never gone.  We are right back into the swing of things, even though a major factor has changed since his departure for foreign shores almost three years ago.  Today he starts his new job with KBR at their downtown building.  One little wrench to throw into the mix though.  I just called him to see if he made it to work OK.  He had not and had only made it about 15 miles in the course of about an hour.  Not a good feeling or experience to have your first day of a new job.  I feel awful for him.

Travis got his first real haircut yesterday.  I say first "real" haircut because I have trimmed his hair when its grown out too long and he has started to look like Grandpa Munster, or looked like he had the beginnings of a mullet.  Tarik needed a haircut and we stopped by SportClips, where guys can get their haircut while they watch sports on TV.  GREAT CONCEPT!  Wish I had thought of it.  In any event, Travis has been needing a haircut anyway and the woman cutting Tarik's hair said she could cut Travis'.  He was such a good little boy and sat in Tarik's lap while she went to work.  Its a little short in the front for my taste, but it looks really good and he looks like such a little boy!  *Sigh*  He is growing up so fast.

Seems we can't plan to go or actually go ANYWHERE without it being destroyed.  Here is a sampling of our experiences:

I go to the World Trade Center, a few months later, its attacked.

We go to London, a few months later, its bombed.

Tarik makes reservations in Sharm al Sheik, Egypt and two weeks before he is supposed to go, its bombed.

Two weeks before I am supposed to go to Amman, Jordan, three hotels are bombed, one happening to be where my husband once lived and my father in law was STILL living.

We go to Beirut, Lebanon and a month later, the the Israelis bomb the crap out of it.

We go to Marmaris, Turkey, and guess what I woke up to see in the news this morning! YES PEOPLE!! Bombs targeting civilians in Marmaris, Turkey; the most obscure out of the way town on the planet.

I am sensing a pattern of some sorts here people, and I am not liking it. World Trade Center aside, all of the other bombings occurred within the timeframe of a year and a half.  Maybe we should just stay home and not go anywhere.

Damn, I had something else I was going to add to this list, but I think the baby ate that brain cell.

Song Virus du Jour:  "Manamana" ~ Written by Piero Umiliani and performed by The Muppets.

Useless Trivia du Jour:  Here is the Wikipedia entry on "Mana Mana", (which is just one of the MANY ways it is spelled).  Its quite interesting and there is even a porn connection.  My kid LOVES "Manamana" and its really cute when he says it.

Preggo Craving du Jour:  I may have to make a trip to Sweet Tomatoes today.
