Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004 - 5:29 p.m. 5 more days!!
YEA! Only 5 days til Tarik
gets home! I gotta get this house cleaned up. Like spring cleaning. It was an eventful week in
Amman, Jordan last week. On Tuesday they had an earthquake, a 4.9 that was
centered somewhere just north of the Dead Sea. He felt it, but thought it
was the workmen in his office moving furniture around. On Saturday they
had a snowstorm and he threw his back out. Not a good day for the hubby,
except that he stayed home from work and got some rest. They were also
told to stay home the next day because of the weather. He works 7 days a
week, 12 hours a day for four months before he gets his two weeks of
R&R. Not fun. And because of this schedule, he unfortunately
does not get out to see the city or anywhere else in Jordan for that
matter. Pity. It would be cool if he could go visit Petra and see
the old temples. For those of you who have seen "Indiana Jones and
the Last Crusade", the temple where the find the Holy Grail is the site I
am referring to. He'll be leaving tomorrow
to go to Beirut for a few days to see his dad's family before heading
here. Then he'll be home for two weeks and in that time we will be heading
for Vegas for a few days for our anniversary. There will be the eating of
lots of meat since Jordan is a Muslim country and they adhere to Hillal, which
is essentially the same thing as kosher. So lots of bacon and pork chops
for him when he gets here. And he also said the first place he wants to go
eat when he gets here is IHOP. OK!!!! Not going to argue with THAT
one! I cannot say enough how
glad I am that he did not go to Iraq. There was an attack at a military
base today 60 miles south of Iraq which is the base he was originally supposed
to go to till they rerouted him to Kuwait. The story is here.
There have also been some other people from this camp who have been killed out
on patrol or in convoy. In other news, and file
this under "mildly annoying", the lock on my mailbox was changed
today. Apparently they do routine lock changes whenever people move and
they got the address one digit off. Oh well. I guess I will have to
wait til tomorrow to get all of my bills - OH JOY! Song virus du jour:
